Choosing music for a horror movie is quite simple. We have to pick a song or instrumental that gives the audience a sense of uneasiness. A lot of music considered “scary” is actually misleading. In fact, many would consider it cheesy and not frightful at all. I’ve watched many short horror films that include a completely different approach to music in their creations. That being old music played from a record player or phonograph. With that being said, it may not sound very scary at face value. There are a few reason why, combined with the context, the old music could make a great addition to the soundtrack of our horror movie intro. The distorted effect to the music caused by an old machine can add to the overall mood of the film. Also, the fact that the person singing, playing the instruments, or even listening to it is dead now can cause some discomfort. The purpose of a horror movie is to make an impact on the viewer by creating a sensory experience. Old music like that is ex...
After reviewing the footage, we decided on some changes that had to me made to improve our film. One of those was the main title screen. This is shown to be a message written into the dirt. What it says is "Crackhead Killer" which is the title of the movie. The first take we did of the film we notice the letters aren't as pronounced as we would've wanted. Due to the time constraints our team had, we had to get someone to come back and redo it. Myles is the one who recommended we use the Hampton Pines Park as our film set. He did not research too far into the closing time of this location. To be fair, neither did any of the other group members including myself. Myles lives in close proximity to this park, it's only a ten-minute walk from his house. The next day, Myles returned to the park to fix up that scene. He pronounced the letters better so that they would be legible. Overall, it was a success, and we replaced the old footage with the new one. It is a good ...
Editing has officially started, and things are not necessarily going to way I expected. Upon speaking with our editor, I found out several things. These were really important to the project and could potentially change the outcome of the final product. The software of choice is confirmed to be CapCut. There are many more features on there than I would have expected. The app is free, so one would think it would be relatively low quality. The time is really good to come up with the design for the introduction. We discussed that there was a lot of potential in the first minute or so of the short film where nothing too important is happening. Text that slides in at the beginning would fit in really well with the running. Also, we found the part where the main title is going to be put. The design for this will be huge text with the word 'Campaign' in the middle of the screen. Prior to writing this, I wanted to use a better editing software. One that was considered more professiona...
