Critical Reflection

 1) How does your product use or challenge conventions and how does it represent social groups or issues?   My music video uses a variety of conventions. Zooming out would be a camera convention used in it. The establishing shot makes the scene and background of the video known to the watcher. There is no audio in the video besides the music itself. Lastly, we use fading in and out to make the transition between our clips for editing. We also all chose to use black clothing as our costumes and edited the video to turn it black and white rather than it be in color. Our whole group was wearing black outfits during the duration of the recording session at the park. The park was also empty, giving a feeling of isolation in the personal tracking shots of each group member. The outfits gave a sense that we were all feeling that loneliness and isolation even if we were together. The costumes also aligned with the Beatles themselves who often wore matching outfits in their music videos and per

The final touches

The editing process came to an end just the other day. I spoke with Daniel and he clarified an issue we had with editing. We originally planned the main (base footage) as its own thing. However, the lack of props we planned on having to use caused us to divert from this plan. Myles was not able to bring a guitar to use as a prop. None of us even had a toy guitar to use. The result was the footage we got was stale and didn't entirely match up to the storyboard. The costumes however were good and certainly looked the part. We were able to be distinguished from one another. However, we all were in unison. This is good because the beetles seemed to be like that too in their music videos. Since this was a sadder song, we chose black outfits to symbolize that it wasn't happy. Although, we did have to fix some things while filming and even caught some things we did not initially notice while editing. For instance, smiling. But besides that, everything was fine besides one major t

The editing process what quite a struggle for this project. The software used to edit the footage is CapCut. The last project I did, I used iMovie which is very different from CapCut in several ways. CapCut has a lot more features available to use, and getting to know what does what and all the functions is surprisingly easy. While iMovie has less overall features and the finished product is quite basic. One good thing about iMovie is it doesn't have a watermark at the end. CapCut was the recommended app to use for editing videos so I suppose there is a reason for that and its popularity. Uploading the clips was a quick and easy process. The order of the clips then had to be decided, which was the first thing done after them being imported. The first issue we ran into while editing was that the video was too long. 35 seconds needed to be edited out to reach the target length of 1 minute and 15 second. The next thing we wanted to do was add some effects to the footage to make it s
