The beginning of the end



   As a group, we have come to a consensus that the footage we have obtained from the day of filming is sufficient enough. With added transitions to the different shots, we could afford to cut a lot of parts we feel are not necessary. The editing process begins today, as the team member who was not able to make it for filming has been assigned the role of editor. He has been learning how to edit and use different software. Personally, I feel I cannot necessarily recommend any usage of an editing software. Our editor in the last project I worked on did not effectively use the editing software. By the time I stepped in, we did not have enough time to use the tools the editing app offered to the fullest extent. Despite having all the camera angles we wanted, the finished product looked rushed. The same thing will not happen due to us getting the filming done relatively quickly. The time we have to edit will make up for anything we missed during the day of filming. This will make the finished product look a lot more polished than it would have if we had to go back for more footage sometime in the future. The other two group members besides me and the editor are occupied working of the social media page and website for the short film. That leaves me with extra time to do something. It will make sense if I assist Myles with editing. I would act as a sort of guide to get as close as possible to what I have in mind for the finished product.  As I have some experience with editing, I believe I could provide some insight. As of now, we are not aware of what editing software is to be used. Widely used apps such as CapCut and iMovie were brought up, but those seem to basic. This project may need a more professional approach when it comes to editing, so that we could get everything we need in the final product. To conclude, things are moving along quite nicely in production.

Setting up the date for filming

  Picking the date for the film may seem easy, but there are many factors that come into play when doing so. Depending on when we are the most available, we have two choices. Thursday the 21st of February is our primary option. This is the day where the actors are free the most. The alternative date we chose is Sunday the 24th. This will be our filming date in the case one of the actors is absent. Most of us have to balance school work an actual job work in our lives. The result being a limited time frame. Thursday is the best option for a few reasons. One being the fact that we can record at dusk and night time. This is perfect because we want to make our horror film during "scary hours". If it happens Sunday, this is not possible as I have work at day time and Mario (group member) has it at night. If it is filmed at day, it reduces the scary effect substantially. Reviewing the footage

  After recording the commercial, there’s still going to be plenty of work left to do. Even after filming, I’ll have to make several preparations for the final copy. There will be multiple clips needed to be combined to create the full-length video. Each of these must be reviewed to check for any errors. Discrepancies such as lack of audio occurs at some cases. I have frequent microphone issues so that is a big concern of mine. Human errors like tripping over words or sudden pauses are also common. These need to be corrected to prevent any awkwardness in the video. The whole point of a commercial is to sell something so there is not much room for error. Any shakiness or inconsistency with the camera need to be fixed. I do plan on using certain angles and there could potentially be circumstances where the camera isn’t stable enough. We reunite once more

   The four of us have returned for one final task. Me, Myles, Mario, and Daniel. These are the four people that sit around me and sometimes help me with my work. These are the gentlemen I want to do this project with. I choose to work with them for a variety of reasons. One being I have already worked with them on my music video. We already have communications established with ourselves. We also now know the different qualities each of us have when it comes to our work. I also learned a lot about myself during the past project. For instance, I have a good perception of knowing when a clip is should be used for the final product or not. I unfortunately often suffer with general interpretation as well, and I am often confused on some things within the project.
